Let’s all bow our heads on this holy, smoke filled day for a short and powerful message from the Black Lipped Pastor… For the Lord said, “Let it be all about the various forms of green!” And it was so. Although he raps like he goes to church with work in the trunk, TDE’s Ab-Soul makes even the most devout Christians wish he would bless their communion on his new single, Tree Of Life. Ab uses his unconventional flow and strings together a series of Hip-Hop’s favorite obsessions of one particular color—money, weed, sprite mixed with Actavis. We can’t help but tip our hats to producer Curtiss King, who samples the drums from Eric B. and Rakim’s Paid In Full for a track that’s all about photosynthesis (aka making green). There’s no official word on where this track will land so we’ll just have to wait and see if this will make the cut for Long Term 3. Bonus points if you knew that the Joey Bada$$ lines Ab sampled were an alternate version of those on Track 7 off 1999.
