Action Bronson - Jar Of Drugs
Artists today have to constantly deal with comparisons to those that came before them as the public figures out exactly what to do with the new faces and personalities. NYC rapper Action Bronson is no different from the rest, as he’s drawn heavy comparisons to both Fat Joe and Ghostface Killah. On his new stand alone song Jar Of Drugs, those comparisons show to be even more accurate as Bronson manipulates the English language to discuss the topic at hand with metaphors galore. At times the verses meander into the obscure, just as many of Ghost’s songs do, but that never stopped the public from enjoying Ghost. And that shouldn’t stop the public from enjoying Bronson either. The Harry Fraud-produced track is a fresh breath of nostalgic air, as it harkens on the good old days of New York City hip-hop pre-Lil Jon’s Southern takeover. To categorize Jar Of Drugs as just another rap song about drugs would discount the skill of both the rapper and the producer on display.
