Alexander Dreamer - Freedom of Speech
What good is Freedom of Speech if you don’t make use of it? Alexander Dreamer‘s latest feature finds the Midwestern buzzmaker setting up his soapbox and exercising his First Amendment rights to the fullest extent possible. On what subject has he decided to hold forth? His own dopeness, naturally. Backed by his own production, a cloudy groove driven by distorted samples, the artist luxuriates in his domination of the Columbus, Ohio hip-hop scene and lords his eminence over the competition. His attitude isn’t likely to make him any friends in the game, but he doesn’t need ‘em. On the middle verse, he channels a little Machiavelli, spitting, “Recently I found, though it’s nice to play nice and be liked / I’d much rather be viewed as a threat.” Freedom of Speech will be included as a bonus track on Dreamer’s forthcoming debut set, Dancing With the Devil. The project is scheduled to drop January 6, for free download, and will hit iTunes for digital purchase one day later, on the 7th.
