The Inevitable Defeat Of Mister And Pete Soundtrack

In The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete, released to select theaters today, a pair of inner-city youths spend a summer fending for themselves in the streets of Brooklyn after their mothers are taken away by the authorities. Don’t let the mildly depressing title and summary fool you, though—it’s going to be uplifting as f**k. How could it not be, when it features inspiring tunes like this newly-released single from Alicia Keys? On Better You, Better Me, an uncredited producer’s appropriately cinematic piano/string arrangement sets the stage for soulful verses on the theme of triumph over adversity: “The sun will come, when you think that it’s all said and done.” Craving more? You’re in luck; while there is currently no release date for the official soundtrack, The Inevitable Defeat features plenty of fresh material from Keys, who scored the film.
