Asher Roth ft. Vic Mensa - Fast Life

Featuring:
Producer:
Blended Babies
Album:

In the past several years, Asher Roth has risen above his college-loving origins to become a serious force on the underground scene, but his scatterbrained style has largely prevented him from being categorized as “socially conscious.” On new single Fast Life, however, he sets aside the blunted lyrical pyrotechnics to tell the story of a young woman caught up in the Fast Life. Constant collaborators Blended Babies provide a low-key, guitar-laced beat to accompany Roth as he describes how parental abuse drove the girl in question to take solace in drugs and drinking. On the back, Chi-Town phenom Vic Mensa grabs the mic to reflect on the breakneck pace of his hustle, and the violence that continues to ravage his hometown’s streets. Fans will be able to find this thoughtful jam, the previously-featured Tangerine Girl and much more on Roth’s RetroHash LP, scheduled for independent release April 22.
