Words Speak Life

As the self-proclaimed “definition of determination,” emcee Avenue is no stranger to overcoming the odds. In high school, the New England spitter was intent on focusing on both his blossoming basketball career and his growing interest in hip-hop. Now that Avenue has begun to make a name for himself in the indie rap game, however, it should come as no surprise that the artist lets loose on his lighthearted, DJBooth debut, Go!. Alongside guest feature emcee Deon Chase, Avenue is far from bashful, dropping rhymes about everything from their shopping habits to “keeping women on demand.” Despite the Gram Fam Music Group emcee’s Northeastern roots, Union Beats’ production on Go! surprisingly comes across as heavily Southern thanks to its energetic bass. Go! is a staff-selected stand out from Avenue’s Words Speak Life mixtape, which was released earlier in the week.
