Today may mark Cannibal Ox’s first appearance on The DJBooth front page but, to serious hip-hop heads, the duo needs no introduction; its debut album, 2001’s The Cold Vein, is widely regarded as an underground classic. Nearly a decade and a half later, Vast Aire and Vordhul Mega are nearly ready to release the follow-up, our first taste of which comes in the form of Pitchfork-premiered single Iron Rose. In addition to the headliners’ legendary lyrical stylings, showcased over a string-drenched beat by Bill Cosmiq, the record packs some characteristically off-the-wall guest bars from DOOM. Blade of the Ronin is scheduled to drop Tuesday, March 3. In the meantime, keep it locked for more fresh song releases.
