Crooklin ft. Rich Kidd - Daydreamers Theme

Like [of Pac Div], cuts by DJ Illiment
Untitled (TBD)

Every hip-hop success story is different, but they all begin roughly the same way: with a young man or woman vibing out to dope music, dreaming of being in their favorite rapper’s shoes. The first solo feature from Crooklin (previously featured as one-half of duo Smash Brovaz), Daydreamers Theme follows the Toronto representative as he struggles to turn his visions of success into reality, breaking only to spark the occasional blunt. Like keeps it tunefully laid-back on the production tip, supplementing a mellow sample from Adele Sebastian’s Daydreamer with a chorus featuring thematically-appropriate snippets from cuts by Game (Dreams), Redman (Whateva Man) and, of course, Biggie (I’ll give you three guesses, and the first two don’t count.) Over the Pac Div member’s head-noddable backdrop, Crook delivers an uncommonly laid-back, yet palpably determined chronicle of the hustle, before tossing the mic to fellow T-Dot spitter/producer Rich Kidd for a guest 16 extolling the virtues of persistence and simple living. Does this smooth jam leave you craving more fresh music from Crooklin? Watch for the emcee to drop a yet-untitled solo set this summer, followed by a new project with Smashbrovas partner-in-rhyme Junia T.
