Dag Savage (Johaz & Exile) ft. Fashawn & Co$$ - Cali Dreamin

Posted about 4 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Exile
Album:
None (Promo Single)

It’s easy to fantasize about the sunshine and glamor of the Golden State—especially if you, like me, live in chillier climes. But a fantasy, by definition, leaves out the unpleasant aspects of real life. On their second collaborative feature, Cali Dreamin Dag Savage peel back the shiny exterior to reveal the nightmare of poverty and crime hidden just beneath the surface. Here, Exile‘s pensive piano loops set the mood as crewmate Johaz describes the gritty realities of his upbringing in the San Diego ghetto, where his single mother faced a constant struggle to keep food on the table. Leimert Park, Los Angeles repper Co$$ (who brought us Show & Prove earlier this week) and Fresno phenom Fashawn (who’s currently preparing for the Sept. 25, release of This Generation, his collaborative set with MURS) contribute guest rhymes. This joint isn’t attached to any forthcoming project, but those who like what they’re hearing can, always, keep their browsers locked for all the latest.
