Dominique Larue - You’re a Star [Premiere]

AntMan Wonder

Before you listen to up-and-coming Ohio native Dominique Larue’s newest track, You’re a Star, please dismiss this unfortunately popular equation: female + hip-hop = Nicki Minaj. You’re not going to see any pink hair or hear any references to America’s favorite doll here, but you are going to hear some real hip-hop, and that’s what matters. Following her generally well-received DJBooth debut Fall ‘96, Star marks Larue’s second Booth feature, and is a praiseworthy follow-up, providing every crucial element of a hit track. This upbeat head-nodder has Larue crafting a freestyle-like ode to her man over a progressive tempo featuring intermittent layers of shine and grit provided by AntMan Wonder. Lyrically, Dom doesn’t hide how she feels about that special someone: “I wanna be where you are / in your mind, in your heart.” Will listeners be similarly head over heels with this feel good track? We’ll find out soon. You’re a Star will be included on Larue’s exclusive, album HerStory, due out February 25.
