Homeboy Sandman - Sputnik

Posted 3 years ago
Producer:
Howard Lloyd
Album:
First of a Living Breed

Not glimpsed in the Booth since dropping off Oddisee-assisted lead effort Watchu Want From Me in early August, Homeboy Sandman returns to our pages with the freshly-released follow-up single off his latest album. On Sputnik, Howard Lloyd‘s stark, furtive rhythm section backs the Northeastern underground rhymesayer as he unleashes a lyrical avalanche of pop-referential punchlines, shouting-out everyone from R. Kelly, to Duran Duran, to Georgia O’Keefe. (The Soviet satellite from which this cut takes its name, surprisingly enough, seems to be absent from his bars.) Joseph R. Neigh IV provides official visuals to complement the cut. Craving more fresh tunes from Sandman? Seek and ye shall find on the rhymesayer’s First of a Living Breed LP, out now on Stone’s Throw.
