Friday Night Lights Mixtape

If you climbed into bed last night giddy with the expectation of unwrapping a shiny new J. Cole mixtape In the Morning, you likely started the day on a disappointing note. And if you were one of the hardcore devotees who stayed up all night, staring at your monitor in rapt anticipation of Friday Night Lights’ arrival… well, I feel for you. While previous features Before I’m Gone and Purple Rain were, to be sure, dope as hell, neither left the female half of the hip-hop nation quite as tantalized as this final leak, a collaboration between the game’s two most eligible young bachelors. Released yesterday evening, Morning finds L&X Productions serving up a delicate, piano-led beat as Cole lyrically romances one lucky chick. On the middle, T-dot ladykiller Drake grabs the mic for a guest 16 as witty as it is sensual: “Drink that dinner wine slow, I’m tryin’ to make the goosebumps on your inner thigh show, I’ll let you beat me there as far as finish lines go.” Damn!
