I’m not going to front, before I even pressed play on Val Venis, King L had my attention when I saw that he had named his upcoming album Dope & Shrimp. Goddamn that sounds like a dope combination. Anyway…for his DJBooth debut the Chicago emcee celebrates a recent signing to Epic Records with Val Venis, a street rider of a cut that rides hard thanks to a speaker shattering beat from C Sick. Take that already hard foundation, mix in vocals from King L that are as steady and strong as a 12 gauge, and we’ve got a certified banger on our hands. And yes, L’s aforementioned Dope & Shrimp project is an early contender for the “Best Title for an Album Released in September” crown.
