4:57 Mixtape

It’s been about five months since Laws dropped his breakthrough 4:57 Mixtape, but when you’ve cooked up a musical meal that delicious, you can eat off it for months. Or, in the case of Hold You Down, simply reheat…I mean remix it. For Hold You Down’s second go around the original bouncing beat from DJ Khalil remains untouched, but lyrically it’s a brave new world, with Laws dropping two new dope verses (though I could have done without the Solar murder reference), The Natural Emilio Rojas jumping on board to absolutely annihilate his section, and Booth favorite and recent Def Jam signee Big K.R.I.T. bringing in some southern style. Did I mention Rojas killed it? “You ain’t never shuttin nothing down, you’re like Guantanamo Bay.” Damn. Still haven’t downloaded 4:57? I highly suggest you start playing catch up right now and get on board before you get left behind. And of course keep it locked for the latest from Laws – with the ink dry on his Warner Bros. contract it’s only a matter of time before we start hearing major label releases from the man.
