With most R&B cuts intent on dwelling on love lost, being cheated on, and other tragic tales of the heart, it’s not often that you come across a record where the singer boasts about being the other man. Not one to shy away from ruffling a few feathers, former The X Factor contestant turned “other man” Marcus Canty details this kind of affair on Used By You, the latest single from his forthcoming EP. The tone of Used By You becomes highly evident within the first verse as Canty croons, “You know he’s messin’ round on ya/ I know how we can reverse it/You want revenge we can serve it.” Thanks to boardwork from the duo that is Infinity and Antario Holmes, the record starts off with the vigor of an electro/dance number but eventually morphs into a deliciously upbeat R&B tune. Ladies, you’ll probably have to hit up the Maryland songster personally for other tips on how to get revenge, but in the meantime look out for his This…Is Marcus Canty EP, which is due out “soon.”
