Raekwon ft. Ghostface Killah, Jim Jones & Kobe - Rock N Roll

Posted 5 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
DJ Khalil
Album:
Shaolin Vs. Wu-Tang

From the days Run-DMC and Steven Tyler were screaming at each other on Walk This Way to B.o.B.’s influences on Airplanes, hip-hop and rock n’ roll have circled each other warily for years. Leave it to Wu-Tang legend Raekwon to bring the two genres together yet again on his new possibly-maybe-a-future-single titled, you guessed it, Rock N Roll. While producer DJ Khalil doesn’t literally rock out on the beat, there’s nary a screaming guitar to be found, the live drums are turned all the way up, and the beat bleeds with head banging energy. The real tie-in here comes on the lyrical tip as first the Chef declares himself a “Willie Nelson ni**a,” (I’ll let you figure out what that means) followed closely by Ghostface’s Pink Floyd inspired flow and Jim Jones bravely brandishing his Led Zeppelin (his gun, apparently). Add in a lightly distorted hook from Kobe and I wouldn’t be surprised if a mosh pit broke out on the Booth - just try not to break all the furniture, thanks. Whether literally or figuratively, you can expect to find plenty more rock(s) on Rae’s upcoming album, Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, due out March 8.
