REKS - Caged Bird

Introspective Minds
Album:

In her classic 1969 autobiography, author and poet Maya Angelou used the metaphor of a Caged Bird (borrowed from Paul Lawrence Dunbar’s poem, “Sympathy”) to represent her struggle against racism and personal trauma. On his latest single, Boston rhymesayer REKS returns to that powerful image as he evokes the mental and material obstacles faced by black women coming up in poverty. Joining the headliner over Introspective Minds’ pensive piano-loop boardwork, EzDread contributes a dense, poetic 16 on the back end. Featuring this cut, past singles I Remember and Judas, and much more, REKS’ long-delayed Revolution Cocktail LP still lacks a drop date, but we’ll keep you supplied with further details and song releases as they emerge.
