Smif N Wessun ft. Jahdan - Shots in the Dark

Posted 2 years ago
Producer:
Beatnick & K-Salaam
Album:
Born and Raised EP

Typically, when someone starts firing a weapon blindly, bystanders should find cover and fast. In the case of Smif N Wessun‘s latest feature, though, you don’t have much to worry about. Though the latest single off the Brooklyn vets’ reggae-inspired EP sees Tek and Steele busting off a few Shots in the Dark, each of their lyrical slugs miraculously manages to find its proper target. Over project collaborators K-Salaam & Beatnick‘s dub-infused boardwork, the partners-in-rhyme offer a scattershot, yet incisive indictment of our culture of greed and violence. Guyanan-born, Brooklyn-based dancehall phenom Jahdan takes aim at “unemployment and discrimination” on the record’s hook. Think Shots in the Dark hits home? You can find this record, this past October’s Solid Ground and much more on Smif N Wessun’s latest project, Born & Raised.

Update: We have added the Lisa “Cynical” Smith-directed visuals for Smif N Wessun’s Shots in the Dark single.
