Sonny - Noah the African
Contrary to what FOX News would have you believe, Santa Claus and Jesus didn’t have the lily-white complexions with which they’re depicted in popular culture. While the Book of Genesis doesn’t specify where Noah lived before the flood, it’s a safe assumption that he, too, would have been far from “white.” Sonny Shotz emphasizes that point on new single Noah the African, which comes on the heels of similarly provocative lead mixtape single (13th) Apostle Paul Was Gay. Over Teddy Roxpin‘s low-key sample work, the former Dean’s List frontman constructs an alternate narrative, drawing from a similar tale found in the Epic of Gilgamesh as well as a 20th Century claim that a natural rock formation in Turkey was actually the ark’s remains. As on the previous cut, his ideas are controversial, to say the least (Secular scholars tend to believe the flood never occurred in the first place.), but the presentation is both dope and thought-provoking. If you’re feeling this cut, you can expect more quality bars and conversation-starting theories on solo mixtape Danel Exodus, dropping digitally at a yet-undetermined date in the near future.
