If you haven’t had a chance to check out the tracklist for Statik Selektah’s forthcoming Extended Play album, all you really need to know is that there are roughly one million dope features. One of the more interesting appearances on the LP comes courtesy of new school New York crew Flatbush ZOMBiES who, when joined by veteran Brooklyn duo Smif N Wessun, give new meaning to the word gritty on Camouflage Dons. All rhyming parties involved share in a similarly rugged, aggressive style that is used to dish out some unapologetic, street-friendly bars. It is Statik’s high-octane, trumpet driven production, however, that gives the emcee’s peppery flows an extra kick, ensuring that listeners remember that he is the Michelin Star creator of this spicy entrée. If Camouflage Dons doesn’t convince you to scoop up Statik’s Extended Play on the 18th, read a full DJBooth review of the album (written by yours truly).
