Talib Kweli - Upper Echelon

Posted 3 years ago
Producer:
Harry Fraud
Album:

In an industry full of underachievers, you can count on Talib Kweli to come with that Upper Echelon sh*t. Fresh off claiming the top spot on the DJBooth’s Top Indie Chart with his recently-released Push Thru (Marco Polo Remix), the Northeastern mainstay joins forces with Harry Fraud for his latest single, a mordant critique of the contemporary rap game. Over the underground beatsmith’s stark synth-percussion beat, Kweli casts a withering gaze over his competition (“Rap been laughable over the last year or two,” he scoffs.) and positioning himself as the antidote to our current epidemic of wackness. Fans can look forward to more next-level beats and rhymes on Prisoner of Consciousness, due out April 23, via Blacksmith/EMI.
