The Lox - Summer Too Hot

Posted 3 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Scram Jones

Though years of listening to hip-hop have inured me to unconventional spelling and grammar choices, I feel the need to preface this blurb by specifying that, yes, The Lox‘s latest promotional single is titled “Summers to Hot” and no, I don’t have a g*ddamn clue why they wrote it that way. Maybe they just wanted to piss off English majors—which I would totally support, incidentally. Whatever the case, the record is far too dope to get hung up on the details. Kicked off with some sampled dialogue from Do the Right Thing (courtesy of Samuel L. Jackson’s Mister Señor Love Daddy), the record finds Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P. trading verses over a head-noddable, sampled instrumental by Scram Jones. In lieu of a hook, the beatsmith flips a line from Cruel Summer inclusion New God Flow. This joint isn’t attached to a larger project, but we’ll keep you posted on The Lox’s plans as further details emerge.

Update: For the iTunes release of the single, the spelling has been changed to Summer Too Hot.
