The Purist x Danny Brown - Jealousy

Some beats, from the moment of their creation, are just asking to be blazed by a certain emcee. Take Jealousy, the debut feature and latest single from British record producer The Purist: though the record was originally released as an instrumental, its spacey synths and sparse percussion (complemented by a sample from Biggie‘s 10 Crack Commandments) might as well have been tailor-made to back the animated flows of Danny Brown. Thus, Purist has enlisted the Motown repper to contribute some high-energy, fellatio-fixated bars to the single version of the cut—the rest, as they say, is history. For those who enjoy a little rap karaoke, Globodigital‘s dope throwback visuals feature Brown’s lyrics at the bottom of the screen. (I gave it a shot, but I couldn’t keep up for more than a bar and a half.) Fans can find the original, Danny Brown-less incarnation of Jealousy on the headliner’s Tri-Ill EP, available for purchase as of February 4.
