Trouble Man

No need to rush into listening to TOPE‘s latest feature. Feel free to Take Your Time preparing a snack, pouring a cup of coffee, using the restroom or doing whatever else you need to do in order to enjoy his new single to the very fullest. Ready? Good. Here, the Portland emcee shares some low-key ruminations on music and romance, backed by his own blissfully mellow flip of Erykah Badu‘s Time’s a Wastin. Farnell Newton, a trumpeter known for her work with soul veteran Jill Scott, assists on the instrumental tip. Badu plays an even larger role in KNWPO official visuals, which depict TOPE (as Groucho Marx-esque alter ego Soulflower T) penning a love letter to the neo-soul songstress. Take Your Time is just one of many fresh cuts to be found on the Rose City repper’s Trouble Man street album, available on iTunes as of July.
