Ugly Heroes - Me

Ugly Heroes (Bonus Track)

For some heroes, like Superman, battling the forces of evil is simply second nature. Others, like Batman, are plagued by self-doubt, constantly wondering whether they’re equal to the task before them. Midwestern hip-hop crew Ugly Heroes clearly fall under Column B. On Me, a bonus cut off their freshman set, emcees Verbal Kent and Red Pill each take a long, hard look in the mirror. Crewmate Apollo Brown‘s distorted sampling of Lana del Rey‘s Video Games sets a pensive mood as the rhymesayers interrogate the motivations behind their hustle and untangle the web of insecurities holding them back from their full potential. This introspective cut is just one of many bangers to be found on the trio’s self-titled debut album, released in May via Mello Music Group.
