Vinnie Paz ft. Tragedy Khadafi - 7 Fires of Prophecy

Posted 4 years ago
Producer:
Beatnick Dee, cuts by DJ Kwestion
Album:
God of the Serengeti

Since time immemorial, wise hip-hop heads have spoken in hushed voices about an Italian-American rhymesayer who emerged from the Philly streets to save the game from the forces of wackness, ushering in a halcyon age of grimy beats and hard-hitting street lyricism. Or maybe I just made that up five minutes ago—who knows? For his latest single, Vinnie Paz draws inspiration from a considerably more venerable source: the 7 Fires of Prophecy, as foretold by the Anishinaabe people of Turtle Island. With Beatnick Dee‘s boom-bap production banging in the back, the Jedi Mind Tricks alum envisions hip-hop as an apocalyptic battleground, and himself as a martyr leading society’s outcasts into battle with the powers that be. Recently heard collaborating with Blak Madeen on Militant Minds, Baltimore’s Tragedy Khadafi supports the headliner’s calls for revolution on the guest tip. DJ Kwestion tops the record off with a hook sampled from Capone-N-Noreaga‘s T.O.N.Y. Fans can find this cut, lead single Cheesesteaks and more on Vinnie’s sophomore solo LP, God of the Serengeti, scheduled to drop October 22. Click here to pre-order the set.
