Z-Ro - Top Notch

Mr. Lee

The New York Times called him “one of America’s most underrated rappers,” but in the South, Z-Ro has built a reputation as one of the game’s best. On his new single, Top Notch, the emcee seeks to expand his reach beyond Harris County. Sampling Houston’s legendary Pimp C, Z-Ro’s sing-song style is no parts Akon, T-Pain or Nate Dogg, but carries the same addictive quality that made him a standout on songs like Get Throwed and Draped Up (Remix). Mr. Lee, a Texas production staple, provides the ingredients Mr. McVey needs to cook up that street goodness on this track off Z-Ro’s 12th studio album, Crack (out now). If Top Notch is any indication of the new direction Z-Ro is headed, he may have some new customers knocking on his door very soon.
