Donnie Trumpet’s Surf album is the musical gift that just keeps on giving.
On Saturday, Trumpet celebrated the one-year anniversary of his highly-acclaimed collaborative project with Chance The Rapper and The Social Experiment by releasing “The First Time,” an 11-minute mix of previously-unreleased snippets from the album’s recording sessions.
“This is a collection of unused Surf pieces, an ode to the era. Thank you to everyone who’s still listening and growing with the music,” Trumpet wrote.
Portions of five leftover records are featured in the rather calm, easy listening compilation, which includes two guest appearances from Chance and background vocals and instrumentation by Ady Suleiman, J.P. Floyd, Dustin Green and, Cam Obi.
In the event that you’ve been living under a rock, or you didn’t have internet access until just now, or this is your first experience visiting DJBooth, Chance’s newly-released “mixtape,” Coloring Book, is now available for free, non-exclusive stream.
