Freddie Gibbs Lists His 6 Favorite Rappers "At the Moment"

Of course, Curren$y made the cut.

Freddie Gibbs has good taste.

Just five days out from releasing his long overdue collaborative tape with Curren$y, entitled FETTI, Gibbs took to Twitter to rattle of his current favorite rappers—in no particular order.

Of course, Curren$y made the cut. Creative mastermind Travis Scott making the list makes sense, too, as well as the inclusion of Pusha T. Gibbs fans might be surprised, however, by the inclusion of youthful selections Gunna, Offset, and Kodak Black

Freddie Gibbs often gets grouped into the paltry “real rap” category that excludes trap artists from the fold as if their stories hold less weight. Yet, speaking with the prolific Kenny Beats earlier this year, it appears Gibbs’ taking to trap is simply par for the course. “It’s a beat that sounds like some shit I would give to Smokepurpp,” Kenny said of their track “Automatic.” “Freddie Gibbs is used to some Madlib shit, but I wanted to give him some fun shit. He went fucking crazy because no one’s ever given him that kind of energy.”

Good on Freddie Gibbs for keeping his tastes diverse. An open mind should only improve his music.
