J.I.D took us to the movies with the release of his impressive DiCaprio 2, an album that cements the young star as Dreamville's most promising talent. The record features the Atlanta rapper firing on all cylinders, from R&B deep cuts to maelstrom after maelstrom of bars.
The only logical next step, of course, is to take the battle to the West Coast’s Top Dawg Entertainment.
"We just really competing with TDE,” J.I.D told Complex, with a wide grin across his face. "That's a whole 'nother thing. We competing with TDE. That's what needs to be known. Dreamville, we gotta step this shit the fuck up. Because them n****s is fire."
While it’s all love and support among those currently on the Dreamville label, when it comes to external crews, J.I.D would like to see his team ratchet up. As all boats rise with the rising tide, a solid drop for J.I.D should spell more superb music from the label, including upcoming releases from Ari Lennox and EarthGang.
Months earlier, J. Cole explained that he signed J.I.D because of his GOAT potential, and any one track off DiCaprio 2 promises as much.
