YBN Cordae broke out as the wordsmith of the YBN crew. Ever since his sensational "Old N****s," a response to J. Cole's "1985," it's been all eyes on Cordae as he prepares his upcoming debut project. While photos of him in the studio with Dr. Dre have drummed up plenty of hype, Dre isn't the only big name on the forthcoming record.
"So, I been pretty much working on this project, man, finalizing this project," Cordae told Zane Lowe on his World Record program on Beats 1 on Apple Music. "Just been working, like, fuck, man, with a bunch of dope ass producers. I got some legendary features on there. Ty Dolla $ign on there. I got Pusha-T... That's just a little sprinkle. You know what I'm saying? Everybody I have on this project are really good friends of mine, all came about in a super organic, dope way, so I feel like that's the best way to go about it, man."
True to his role as the bridge between generations in hip-hop, collabs with Ty and Push sound right up YBN Cordae's alley. He goes on to explain that this album will showcase his versatility. Considering he sold his shoe collection to buy a studio, certainly there will be a lot to look forward to.
While we know Cordae to be an excellent rapper in the traditional sense, it would be exciting to see him venture into the realm of melody and spread his metaphoric wings. Though the project has no release date as of yet, we will be pressing play once the album drops.
