  • Artist: Twista
  • Track: The Heat
  • Feat. Raekwon
  • Producer: No I.D. & The Legendary Traxster
  • Album: The Perfect Storm

Let’s get straight to the point: any beliefs about Twista being all dressing and little main course (see his last track Make a Movie) should be completely dead after listening to The Heat, a cut off the Chi-Town spitter’s upcoming album The Perfect Storm. Unlike the smorgasbord that was Kanye West’s See Me Now, all of the ingredients in Heat, from the blues rock production by No I.D. and The Legendary Traxster to the feature by The Chef work to steam cooked perfection. Raekwon continues the streak he started the moment OB4CL2 dropped last September, by making sure his guest verse is peppered with odes to Chicago gangsters and his own impeccable sense of being above all other emcees. However, there’s no doubt that this joint belongs to the Chicago fire breather as his complex wordplay (see, the man does have lyrics) in the first verse both declares his rap immortality and segues perfectly into Raekwon’s 16. If it contains more music like The Heat, maybe Twista should rename his album The Perfect Meal by the time it drops on October 26.
