January has been a very good month for Migos.

Not only did their hit single "Bad and Boujee" reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, but first-week sales projections for their newly-released sophomore album are terrific.

According to HDDC U L T U R E is expected to move between 70k and 80k SPS (sales plus streaming) units, which will be good enough to enter the Billboard 200 this week in one of the top two positions. An impressive achievement, no doubt, though it should be noted that pure sales are projected to make up only 28-33k of that total, which means pre-release "Bad and Boujee" stream equivalents have certainly been a huge factor in the album's success.

The battle for No. 1 is with country music singer Brantley Gilbert, whose The Devil Don't Sleep album was also released on January 27 and is projected to move roughly the same number of units. It's important to note, though, that his total includes approximately 35-40k more pure sales (not including streaming).

Compared to their 2015 debut album Yung Rich Nation, which moved only 15k first-week units and debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard 200, Quavo, Offset and Takeoff—as well as their three record labels—have to be feeling great right about now.

While C U L T U R E might be the only large, mainstream rap release so far this year, for now, it's also the most popular.

Update: According to HDD, Migos' new album C U L T U R E is currently No. 1 on the SPS (sales plus streaming) chart, moving an equivalent total of 108-113k units. On the Album Sales chart, however, Brantley Gilbert's The Devil Don't Sleep is currently edging out the ATL trio with approximately 70k pure sales compared to Migos' 40k. It's still early, but it's looking like Migos will debut at No. 1.
