Kendrick Lamar is “Really Upset” Beyoncé Didn’t Win Album of The Year

Beyoncé took home GRAMMYs for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video this evening—increasing her career total to 22—but unfortunately, she twice came up short to Adele, losing out on Record of the Year ("Formation") and Album of the Year (Lemonade).

Among those disappointed with the final results of the evening's two biggest awards is fellow GRAMMY winner Kendrick Lamar, who spoke to TDE co-President Punch following the ceremony.

Setting aside the fact that K. Dot and Bey collaborated on the Best Rap/Sung Performance-nominated song "Freedom"—which lost out to Drake's "Hotline Bling," his lone GRAMMY Win—Kendrick's gripe with the GRAMMY committee's decision to give a gilded gramophone to Adele for 25 instead of to Beyoncé for Lemonade can be traced back to 2014, when Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' The Heist edged out Good Kid, M.A.A.D City for Best Rap Album, and again last year, when Taylor Swift's 1989 album took home the evening's top prize instead of Lamar's critically-acclaimed To Pimp a Butterfly.

As Frank Ocean pointed out in his Tumblr post over the weekend, the GRAMMYs have a long history of "cultural bias." For as much as some things change—Chance The Rapper winning the first ever GRAMMY for a stream-only mixtape album that wasn't made available for physical or retail purchase—mostly everything stays the same.

Update: Beyoncé's sister Solange is also unhappy about her Lemonade being snubbed for the night's top prize, tweeting "wuddup frank" and linking to Ocean's Tumblr rant about the GRAMMYs.
