25 Most Popular Hip-Hop & R&B Artists Right Now

By | Posted November 14, 2017
Post Malone's reign continues, incredibly.

Since releasing his current No. 1 single "rockstar" on September 15, Post Malone has been the most popular hip-hop or R&B artist in the world. Seriously, for nearly two straight months, no recording artist in either genre has collectively generated more on-demand streams and digital sales than the 22-year-old Republic Records signee.

Eminem, thanks to his newly-released single "Walk On Water," is currently the closest artist to catching Mr. Malone. The Beyoncé-assisted first single from Eminem's forthcoming ninth studio album RƎVIVAL is currently a top 10 record on iTunes in 22 countries (including the US, Australia, Canada, the UK and Germany), top 10 on Spotify in nine countries (No. 6 in the US) and top 10 on Apple Music in 18 countries.

Below you will find a list of the 25 most popular hip-hop and R&B artists across the globe on Tuesday, November 14, according to on-demand streaming and iTunes data collected by Kworb, along with their current overall ranking, most popular country and most popular song. Brief Booth Analysis:

  • Not only did Eminem's "Walk On Water" make a splash across on-demand streaming services, but the single also helped to generate plays for a lot of the veteran MC's most popular singles. Both "'Til I Collapse" and "Lose Yourself" re-entered the Spotify 200 this week, charting at No. 156 and No. 185 respectively.
  • Eminem isn't the only artist to benefit from the release of his new single. Thanks to her complementary chorus on "Walk On Water," Beyoncé clocks in at No. 5. Incredibly, Queen Bey's last album, Lemonade, which was released in April 2016, is still in the top 10 on iTunes in 12 countries, including Kenya (No. 2), Norway (No. 4), Sweden (No. 4) and Ghana (No. 5).
  • Lil Pump's self-titled mixtape has exactly been a barn burner on the charts—it's highest iTunes rank is No. 12, in Swaziland—but his hit single "Gucci Gang" is a monster. The Gnealz and Big Head-produced record is currently a top 10 record on Spotify in nine countries (No. 2 in the US) and a top 10 record on Apple Music in 16 countries (No. 2 in the US).
  • It's been exactly seven months to the day Kendrick Lamar released his 2x Platinum-certified album DAMN., but that hasn't stopped the TDE MC from continuing to attract new listeners. Worldwide, "HUMBLE." is still a top 50 record on Spotify (it's currently No. 49) and on Apple Music, it's still in the top 50 in 16 countries (it's No. 44 in the US).
