Fuze The MC - Here We Go

Here We Go

Achieving musical perfection is no easy task—sometimes it means spending hours in your basement, scrolling through your MPC to find a hi-hat sample that fits your beat, or listening to obscure jazz records for days on end, searching for that perfect trombone riff.  Fuze The MC is the kind of artist who might entirely scrap a project that doesn’t feel quite right (such was the case with his No Hooks LP), but, when the Atlanta rapper finally finds a direction he can stand behind, the results are often spectacular—newly released LP title track Here We Go is a case in point.  An early leak of the record has been floating around the ‘net for a while, but Fuze has finally settled on this official version. The record might not have the bombastic feel of Super Music, but the artist’s high-energy style comes through loud and clear; Fuze’s Lupe-influenced flow, along with Rollerino‘s stylishly nostalgic beat, add up to a track that evokes images of kids skating to old-school tunes at the local roller rink. Perfectionism doesn’t always work out for the best, but, if Fuze keeps turning out tracks like this one, I certainly won’t be complaining!
