HD - Aladeen

Posted 2 years ago
Producer:
Hippie Sabotage
Album:
None (Promo Single)

While the date on HD‘s birth certificate clearly reads “1994,” there are those who insist the B.K. wunderkind is too young to truly epitomize his city’s old-school sound. Those people are clearly deaf, so he wisely refrains from engaging with them on his latest promo single. Instead, Aladeen finds him preaching to the choir of heads who already believe in him. Backed by Hippie Sabotage‘s majestic sample work, he traces his lineage back to the Big Apple greats (“I’m from Brooklyn, so Kane is like grandpa, Big is like unk pop and Jay is like my real pop.”) and positions himself as part of the same “New New York” movement that spawned acts like Action Bronson, Troy Ave, Flatbush Zombies and The Underachievers. Tommy Falcone‘s simple, yet effective black-and-white visuals round out the package. This joint isn’t attached to a larger set, but we’ll keep you posted on HD’s 2014 plans as further details emerge.
