Joyner Lucas - Half Ni**er

Posted 2 years ago

In late April, Joyner Lucas proved his mettle on the mic with Don’t Ask for Nothin’, a freestyle series contribution that earned him a stunning 4.5-star average rating from our readers. The New England-born spitter’s skills are beyond question, but can he turn in an equally impressive performance when he tones down the verbal pyrotechnics and hones in on more serious subject matter? After listening to new promo single Half N**ger, it’s clear that the answer to that question is yes hell yes. Here, Khep‘s swirling piano portamentos accompany Lucas as he spits about the experience of growing up mixed-race, lacking both the privileges that come with white skin and the respect of many of his black peers. This cut isn’t attached to a larger project, but its thought-provoking content is sure to leave lyrical heads hungry for more. We in the Booth will, of course, keep you posted on the artist’s plans.

Update: We have added the visuals for Joyner Lucas’ Half Ni**er single.
