Pink Floyd x Dead Prez - They Schools (CHEATCODE Remix)

None (Promo Single)

An ocean and several musical generations may separate English classic-rockers Pink Floyd from Brooklyn hip-hop duo dead prez, but the two acts can agree on at least one thing: teachers need to leave them kids alone. On his latest promo single, Massachusetts DJ/producer CHEATCODE brings these unlikely kindred spirits together, superimposing the fiery verses from 2003’s They Schools over a tweaked sampling of 1979 hit Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2). As M1 and Stic.Man blast the school-to-prison pipeline, the Eurocentric whitewashing of history and the capitalistic aims of the education system, a Chipmunk-pitched version of Pink Floyd’s children’s-choir chorus drives their outrage home. They Schools is only a loosie but, if you’re craving more ingenious mash-ups, you can start by taking a listen to CHEAT’s last feature, Rolling Stones/Eminem collab Mother’s Little Helper (Remix).
