Statik Selektah ft. Styles P, Bun B & Hit-Boy - Funeral Season

Posted 3 years ago
Featuring:
Producer:
Statik Selektah
Album:

As Bay Area emcee A-1 reminded us on a recent, Booth-premiered single, the spike in the homicide rate that accompanies the rising temperatures makes summer a bittersweet time for denizens of the ‘hood. On the latest single off Statik Selektah‘s next solo set, bluntly titled Funeral Season, the beatsmith and DJ recruits a few talented emcees to offer a grittier take on the same phenomenon. The Boston native’s mournful soul samples and head-noddable percussion back D-Block vet Styles P., UGK alum Bun B and rising rapper/producer Hit Boy as they rhyme about the necessity of staying strapped during the most dangerous three months of the year. On the hook, the headliner flips some thematically appropriate snippets from Jadakiss’ verse on Statik’s own For the City. Featuring this joint along with previous single 21 & Over, Statik Selektah’s Extended Play LP is set to drop June 18, via Duck Down.
