Kendrick Lamar Reveals His "Top 5, Dead or Alive" Emcee List

Yes, 2Pac is one.

Half the record industry has already taken off for the forthcoming holiday weekend, but not Kendrick Lamar.

After revealing his alternative album title for DAMN. in an interview with Big Boy, the TDE emcee stopped by The Cruz Show on Power 106 Los Angeles and was asked to list his top five dead or alive emcees.

"Give me JAY-Z, give me Eminem, give me Pac, give me Big and give me Snoop Dogg," Lamar said.

Kendrick's answer jives with the one he provided to Erykah Badu in 2013 when she interviewed the rising star for a piece in Interview Magazine. In no particular order, Lamar listed JAY-Z, Eminem, 2Pac, Biggie, and Snoop, along with Nas, André 3000, Rakim, Kurupt, and DMX.

So, how does Kendrick's top five list stack up against his middle school peer J. Cole? Not surprisingly, it's almost identical. In a 2014 interview with Angie Martinez on Power 105.1, Cole listed, in no particular order, 2Pac, Biggie, Nas, JAY-Z and a "toss-up" between André 3000 and Eminem for the fifth and final spot.
