Smoke DZA ft. J Ivy - Black Independence

  • Artist: Smoke DZA
  • Track: Black Independence
  • Producer: 183rd
  • Album: Dream.ZONE.Achieve

In recent interviews, Kanye West has voiced his frustration with the glass ceiling that separates him and other black Americans from the country's true financial elite. Smoke DZA shares his concerns but, whereas West was determined to play ball with corporations, the Harlem rhymesayer believes the only path to prosperity is Black Independence. On a new mixtape single, 183rd's bold brass loops back the Booth regular as he urges his people to quit settling for anything less than full ownership of their enterprises. Rapper and spoken-word poet J Ivy echoes Smoke's sentiments on the guest tip: “Tryin' to get y'all to look past gettin' on and gettin' loans, let's own the bank / I don't know about you, but I want my great great great greats to be straight.” Fans will be able to find this thought-provoking jam, the previously-featured Gracias Malverde and much more on Dream.ZONE.Achieve, dropping digitally April 1.
